Vision 2016 may seem a long way off for now, but a more immediate vision is in–sight with AFCON 2012 just around the corner.
The Zebras qualification for next year’s finals has inspired the nation, and whilst the jubilant reaction was sounded with the blaring of horns and wild celebrations, the lasting benefit will be the inspiration it has given to youngsters.
Voice Sport took to the Streets of Gabs and talked to some kids about what the achievement means to them.
Atang Oodira (13) Standard 7 at Diphetogo Primary.
“I am so happy and proud of the Zebras. This is great moment for me and my friends. Everything we do has become more enjoyable, even school, but especially football when we take the names of our favourite Zebras player. I believe they will do great at the finals”
Russel Monaka(14) Standard 7 at Bophirima Primary
“What the team has done has made me believe more in myself as a young player with big dreams. With what the Zebras have done I believe our generation can in our time reach the World Cup finals. I am happy and inspired to do my best as a player for myself and my country.”
Magdeline Radiako (15)
“I am proud of the Zebras and will always cherish this great moment. It shows that any Motswana including myself can achieve whatever they want if they put their mind to it and work hard. It is the same for school work as it is for football.”
