An abusive Woman of Nata village was last week arraigned in court for stabbing her police officer boyfriend with a knife and nearly puncturing his lung.
Court papers have indicated that Kethanyegile Stephen of Manakanagore ward in Nata allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Olebogeng Bonang, 36, with a knife in December 31 2012 near Kachikau ward in the same village.
The 28- year- old Stephen had apparently used a ‘saw-like knife’ to stab the cop twice below the chest and once on the head during a dispute over infidelity.
A medical report seen by The Voice showed that the knife went through Bonang’s chest and nearly punctured his lung.
Six months later, the unemployed woman whose lover had forgiven her for the first incident unlawfully wounded the man again.
As if she had not done enough harm, on June 25, 2013, Stephen went on to destroy two window panes and one door belonging to Bonang.
Appearing before Francistown Principal Magistrate Thebeetsile Christian Mulalu last Friday, she was not asked to plead to two counts of unlawful wounding and another for malicious damage to property.
The prosecutor Mothusi Busang told the court that investigations into the matter were not yet complete.
He said Stephen’s victim was only discharged from Nyangabgwe hospital in Francistown last Thursday after three weeks of fighting for his life.
“The police are yet to record a statement from the complainant,” Busang said.
Magistrate Mulalu granted Stephen bail and cautioned her too avail herself whenever she is needed in court.
The case continues.
