Francistown Police are investigating an incident in which a woman aged between 20 and 30 years was found dead at BDF 2 Military Garrison barracks.
The incident happened last Saturday at around 0830hrs.
According to a reliable source it looked like the woman from Bluetown location had committed abortion and her death could have been caused by too much bleeding.
She was about seven months pregnant and her boyfriend had gone on a work related trip when the incident occurred.
“After she committed the abortion she phoned her friend to rescue her.
Upon her arrival, the door was looked and her phone rang unanswered.
The friend informed soldiers in the neighbourhood who later phoned the Military Police who broke down the door and found the the woman dead and the baby in the toilet.
Maybe she wanted to flush it.” The source said
Speaking to The Voice this week Major Gaenamele Baitsemi said: “The police and paramedics took the dead bodies to the mortuary after they were confirmed dead.
Police are currently investigating to find the cause of deaths.
BDF therefore reserves the right not to divulge much on the incident.”
Detective superintendent Thomas Letebele said there were no concoctions found at the scene, it was only blood and they therefore do not know if it was self induced abortion or natural.
He said it has been established that the woman was cohabiting with a soldier boyfriend at the barracks.
“According to the doctor’s report the child was still born.
Youth should stop cohabiting because when such incidents occur it is difficult to find who owns the property in the house.
Her parents did not even know she was living in with a boyfriend in the barracks.”Letebele said.
