Father seeks DNA test after discovering another daddy
A Mahalapye man has approached the court to grant him permission to preform a paternity test to ascertain if he is the father of a 20 months old baby. Letsogile Sebetlela, 35, decided to seek the court intervention after he discovered recently that the “ex boyfriend’ to the mother of his child, has also been financially supportive of the same baby.
“When I called to check on the baby who had been reported ill the previous day, I was surprised when a man answered the phone. He said he was Manyaapelo Kaisara and he too was the father of the baby and he had been responsible for the child’s financial welfare since it was conceived,” Sebetlela told Magistrate Caroline Kataba who presided over the matter.
Seemingly uninterested in the whole process for sometime, the 26- year -old woman at the centre of the controversy, Badiredi Morwalela, suddenly shot up from the court room chair and said; “He can go ahead if he wants but the child is not his.”
Asked what he wanted to achieve by insisting on the test, Sebetlela said Morwalela was confused about who fathered her child so he wanted to set her free from the confusion. The other “father” was not present in court.
