Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) will be launched in Maun tomorrow (Saturday.)
The launch will be the third to take place after Gaborone and Francistown where the newly formed party was launched last year.
Speaking in an interview UDC spokesperson Moeti Mohwasa said the presidents of the three parties that make up the umbrella will be the main speakers at the event.
The three men are Duma Boko of the Botswana National Front,(BNF) Gomolemo Motswaledi of the Botswana Movement for Democracy(BMD) and Motlatsi Molapisi of the Botswana People’s Party.(BPP)
“We have not invited anyone speakers from outside the party to be our guest speaker. Our speakers will be our three leaders just like we did in Francistown,” he stated.
Mohwasa further explained that the events of the day will start with a motorcade at Mummy’s complex which will go around the tourist town before the main event in the afternoon at the same place (Mummy’s).
He urged supporters and the general public to turn up in large numbers to hear what the UDC has for them.
“The launch will be the last one in the northern side of the country before we shift the focus to the Southern part of the country.” Mohwasa said .
Insiders said that the event will not be used to launch new members but to sell the party to the people.
UDC was officially launched in November 2012 with Boko as the president of the party.
