The Zebras and BDF X1 skipper Mompati “Apache” Thuma will be out of action for the rest of this season. Thuma led the national team at their maiden Africa Cup of Nations appearance. BDF X1 Manager, Masego Nchingane confirmed the injury in an interview with Voice Sport.
“I was there when he got injured, we are hopeful it won’t take him long to recover,” said the former Zebras midfielder.
BDF X1 mouthpiece, Philemon Mompati revealed that indeed they have the bad news. Thuma also confirmed the bad and sad news. He also explained that the knee injury has nothing to do with the ligament problem he carried to AFCON.
“This has nothing to do with the injury I carried to AFCON; it is a completely new injury. The doctors have assured me that I will be back in about three weeks,” he said.
The hard tackling said he hopes to be fit in time to fight for his place for the 2013 AFCON campaign. His injury adds to the list of speedy winger Joel Mogorosi, defender Ndiapo Letsholathebe as well as midfielder Jabu Pilane who are both out injured.
