President Ian Khama Seretse Khama has finally decided to pay a visit to the politically alienated Tati East constituency where he is expected to shade light on the current political scenario in the area.
The constituency is in the hands of Samson Guma-Moyo who has since crossed from BDP to the newly formed Botswana Movement for Democracy.
Although there is a rumor that people might have been influenced to boycott the envisaged star rally to be held over the weekend at Tsamaya village, some people from the constituency said they will not be daunted by anyone or anything from attending Khama’s rally while others made it clear that they will not attend as BDP was no longer for them.
Rosina Henry (77) (Tshesebe village)
Khama is our leader and no one is going to stop us from attending his rally. Only thieves hate him because he is targeting them. I will be going to the rally together with my children because I am die hard supporter of the ruling party. Truly speaking I don’t understand why people have negative attitude towards Khama, because his efforts and achievement are open for all to see.
Boitumelo Ditshoto (25) (Tshesebe village)
I cannot afford to miss President Khama’s visit to Tsamaya village. He is one leader who has people’s welfare at heart and that is why he is expelling thieves and corrupt people from the public service. Just imagine, when Khama took over, we saw a lot of positive changes and we are still seeing them even today. I will be attending Khama’s rally and will advise all those in their right minds to go meet their president over the weekend
Tagala Motsamai 35 (Matshelagabedi village)
I won’t be attending the president’s rally because I now belong to BMD and I will be too busy mobilizing for supporters. Yes I was a BDP member but I have changed and I am not attending because some people might mistake my presence at the rally. I however want to tell people that changing from the ruling party to the opposition does not necessary mean that one should hate or lack respect for the president. Khama is still the head of State and he deserves to be respected by all Batswana including members of the opposition only.
Wampona Sekgopi 29 (Matshelagabedi Village)
Although I respect Khama as the state President, I am now a member of BMD. My MP and Councillor crossed over to the new party so I decided to follow them and as for attending the rally I would have loved to attend but I don’t have the mean to go there. I have been supporting Moyo since he became an MP and I am prepared to support him even with BMD.
Power Kuswane (Tsamaya village)
Khama should come and address us and no one would stop us from listening to him. I am a member of BCP but Khama is my president and I still respect him and would always honour his visit. In fact here in Tsamaya we want him to come because the MP and the councillor have neglected us. Since elections Moyo has never come to say thank you to people who voted him into power. Things are getting out of control and Moyo is hardly seen although he is a resident of Tsamaya. Although I am from the opposition I don’t think people should be carried away with bitter people who are rebelling from being called to order.
