MONEY IN THE BANK: All Stars sponsorship money

Newly promoted Palapye All Stars unveiled a P169 000 sponsorship over the weekend. Stars booked their place in the Debswana First Division league through promotional play offs.

Ratho Distributors will sponsor the club with P60, 000 per season for two years, Harmony Lodge P48, 000 for two years, BSI Recycle has pledged P30, 000 and Linky Sportswear will be Technical Sponsor at the tune of P37, 000 annually and P18, 000 cash for two seasons.

Speaking at the unveiling of the sponsorship an elated Stars General Manager Molefhi Obenne expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their support.

He said it is expensive to run a team at lower division hence the need to find sponsors.

“The sponsorship will be used to pay players and coaches’ allowances, accommodation, transport and to purchase a new kit,” said Obenne.

He said initially the owner of the club Mr Ambrose Chima wanted to set up a football academy but ended up forming a football club.

He said the sponsorship would go a long way in helping the club to retain players and lure new talent.

He also said it is good to see local companies contributing to the development of sports and hope others will learn from them and follow suit.

The Palapye outfit is under the tutelage of Mogomotsi Bright, son of Gaborone United mentor David Bright.
