As part of its commitment towards uplifting the lives of the people of the Boteti Sub- District, the Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines will hold annual General Manager Dr Adrian Gale’s Sponsored Walk on the 9th August.
The objective of the charity event which was established in 2002 is to raise funds towards improving the lives of the people in Boteti Sub District.
The 20 km walk will start from 6 am at Damtsha mine junction to Itekeng stadium.
The main walker will be BOCCIM CEO Maria Machailo-Ellis.
In 2013 through this walk, 1.2 million from the raised funds was used to build eight houses to less privileged to support presidential housing appeal project.
The other Project that have benefited immensely from the initiative include the psycho-social support project for orphaned and vulnerable children in Letlhakane.
OLDM Public and Corporate Affairs Manager Shungu Malikongwa told Voice that this event promote a spirit of charity among Orapa people.
She said the walk is aimed at raising funds for the socio-economic benefit of the people of the Boteti Sub- District
“Participation is for everyone including employees, community, social clubs, corporations and more.
This is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
We highly appreciate the support we get from all our key stakeholders as their contribution will go a long way in assisting us to uplift communities and leave an impeccable legacy in the Boteti region.” Said Malikongwa
She said the walk continues to receive tremendous support from key stakeholders such as long term service providers, Debswana employees, media, the business fraternity, Boteti Sub- District Local Authorities and the community in general.
