Botswana football export to South Africa, Mogogi Gabanamong, 30, has married his long time sweetheart, Tumi Kegakilwe from South Africa.

NEWLY WEDS: Mogogi and Tumi

Mogogi a Supersport United midfield maestro whose star extends beyond  the  SA borders formalised his six- year relationship with  Kegakilwe, 26, in a traditional ceremony last Saturday.
The soft-spoken player paid lobola and held an intimate traditional ceremony attended by the two families in his wife’s village of Tlakgameng, situated two hours outside Mafikeng in The North West Province in South Africa. The two love-birds met in 2006 at the O.R Tambo international airport six years ago.

A very excited Mogogi said:  “I was at the airport with my friend Zvenyika Makonese who had asked me to go with him so he could change his flight bookings to Zimbabwe that evening. Tumi had flown in from Cape Town that morning. It was very early, I was scared to talk to her, but I plucked up the courage, and she was very kind. We chatted for about 15 minutes, but spent the next two hours or so talking on the phone. We had a game that afternoon and we continued talking after the game. I had not been in a relationship in a long time and fortunately she was not seeing anyone.

“She was living in Johannesburg and I was in Cape Town but I made efforts to make sure that we visited each other, and after a year I asked her to relocate to Cape Town. We have been inseparable ever since and my every spare minute and off days belongs to her. She supports me in everything I do and I strive to do the same. I can never do anything without her.
“I never knew how to love until I met Tumi. She is an intelligent and loving woman. Her nationality was never an issue, she speaks fluent Setswana and is rooted in her culture, which makes it easy for her to embrace and understand my passion for farming,” Mogogi quipped.
Asked why there was no word about his wedding plans, the versatile star said: “I respect my intimacy. I respect my woman and our families and our privacy is something we enjoy. We are keeping our white wedding plans tight lipped too.”
Mogogi however did divulge in an exclusive interview with The Voice that he was planning another intimate and private traditional ceremony for Botswana in December when the football season is off peak. “ A naturalised South African, Mogogi said: “I love Botswana very much and I’ll definitely would like to celebrate my union with the woman of my dreams there this coming December.”
