MaterSpei donate to centre for the deaf
DONATION: Sealed with a hand shake

As part of their commitment to give back to the community, Materspei College donated toiletry worth P6, 515 to Francistown Centre for the Deaf recently.

The gifts were greatly received by the small school, which currently has an intake of 56 students and a staff of 10 teachers and 37 caretakers.

Speaking on behalf of the centre, the institution’s Deputy Head, Monageng, said he was very grateful to Materspei for the kind gesture.

“We thank you very much Materspei College for thinking of us. We work very hard; even though our students are 56 in number, it seems like each head is 10 people so it is like we have 560 students!” he remarked happily.

For his part, Materspei School Head, Jabulani Munyere, explained the college had been looking for a worthwhile local project to support.

“We asked ourselves, ‘What are we doing to give back to the community?’

“Since we are a mission school, with a verse that reads ‘Blessed is the hand that gives,’ we then thought of Centre for the Deaf.

“We wanted to extend a hand to other people in society since we are a school that preaches love,” Munyere said, adding that the school intend to make similar donations to other organisations in the future.

The donated items included fabric softener, washing powders, bathing soaps, deodorants, foam baths, sanitary pads, body lotions, toothpaste, toilet paper and body creams.
