A Maun man who knife stabbed a five -year -old boy 16 times could have his grivious bodily harm charge stiffened if the child’ s condition deteriorates.
Ditshimologo Kgaogano, 29 from Disaneng ward has been imprisoned while the boy battles for his life at Letsholathebe hospital where he is being observed for a possible change for the worst which could call for an upgrade of the charge.
Kgaogano allegedly stabbed the five-year old boy 16 times to get back at the boy’s parents after a heated argument. The court heard that following a misunderstanding with the victim’s mother,Kgaogano jumped into his neighbours yard and dragged the child to his place while continuously stabbing him.
He then ran away but was arrested the following day when trying to sneak back into his house. His incoherent remarks, shabby looks and the way he shifted around nervously made Kgaogano who cut a lonely figure as none of his family members attended court seem mentally unstable.
He will appear again for mention on the 20th of this month while the court continues to monitor the victim’s condition. Public Prosecutor Ogomoditse Seonyana asked the court to remand him in custody for his own safety because since the incident the two families have developed bad blood between them.
Meanwhile Maun Police Station Commander Superintendent Kenanao Kenny Badumetse complained of the number of rape cases which he said were on the increase. “ He asked women who go clubbing at night to take precaution to avoid being raped.
