A fight over a stolen cell phone turned ugly at Madiba Senior Secondary School and pitted Shakawe students against Mahalapye students resulting in one student sustaining serious head injuries.

The Voice investigations revealed that some students fought outside the school premises after Mahalapye students were accused of being part of a gang stealing cellphones from the school dormetry to sell in the village.

Yesterday during extra mural activities the fight resumed on a larger scale.

Sources at the school say a Shakawe student ran to his homeboys for help resulting in Mahalapye students joining the fight to defend their own.

“Before long there was chaos in the school with stones and other objects being thrown by the warring parties. Three students got injured and one was taken┬áto Nyangabwe Referral Hospital with serious head injuries,” said a Madiba staffer on condition of anonymity.

One student suspected to be inciting others is said to be in Police custody and was brought to school under police escort to write his examinations.
