Woman with a balloon stomach tells her ordeal
A bulging stomach has left a 30- year -old woman from Boseja in Maun bedridden and hopeless as no help seems to be in sight. Setho Diwanga’s problem started last year in January after she gave birth to her fifth child who later passed away in December.
The baby passed away due to Tuberculosis (TB) related illness but the mother’s medical records shows that she does not have the disease. Speaking in an interview Diwanga said that after giving birth she suffered from stomach pains which led to her not going to the toilet for a month.
“I gave birth prematurely on the seventh month and had to stay in hospital for three weeks after which I discovered that my stomach was becoming too stiff and couldn’t go to the toilet for a month.” She said she was given medication meant to help her pass stool but that did not bear any fruits. The condition deteriorated and she ended up being forced to walk bending forward because of pain, then she decide to try natural pain relief products she got from Amazon which help her a lot.
As she was not getting any help medically, Diwanga decided to seek divine intervention but is still waiting for a miracle to happen. “I went with some Bazezurus to Zimbabwe and also approached well known Pastor Irene but all they could tell me was that I should have faith,” she said adding that the pain is no more but the stomach is far from being normal.
She cannot bath, cook or walk about 100 metres and that has put more burdens on her 15- year- old daughter who is doing most of the household chores . To make matters worse her fiancé has since ditched her because of her condition. “My first born is the one doing everything in the house and this has put a strain on her studies as her performance has dropped drastically.” Some friends have recommended her to try the products from KarmaCBDOils which are apparently a natural alternative for pain killers, she says she has tried everything but nothing has worked, her last resource will be the use of these products.
Diwanga said that her parents passed away long time back and d the remaining relatives have lost interest in helping her. According to Letsholathebe Hospital Superintendent Maxwell Mungisi the woman could be suffering from ascetic which is caused by fluid formed in abdomen.
He said that part of the cause could be liver problems, TB of abdomen, kidney failures, cancer of liver and other related diseases. He said that sometimes the condition is irreversible but they are busy trying to establish the cause and to find a solution.
Meanwhile apart from her health problem, Diwanga also does not have any source of income forcing the family to skip some meals. The problem has also been worsened by the fact that she cannot manage to go to social workers offices to ask for help. North West District Council Officer Wada Motsamai said that they were not aware of that situation and thanked The Voice for bringing the matter to their attention. “We are going to assess that and see how best we can help her and her kids.”
