The 3rd annual Kwambala Charity Tournament and Family Fun Day will be held this Saturday at Area W Grounds in Francistown.
Activities for the day will include a four day soccer tournament, chess, rugby, pool, scrabble and horse.
The tournament will start on Saturday, and the highlight will be a football match final which will precede awards in the evening.
Six football teams will be participating including Area W BDF Camp soldiers team.
Speaking to Voice Sport this week the organizer of the tournament Lesego Kwambala who is also the area councillor said the tournament is meant to raise funds for the development of the community and charity.
He said it is also meant to unearth youthful talent from Area W.
“This event is also part of our Itekeng vision 2018 whose main pillar is to encourage a spirit of self reliance. We wanr people to take responsibility and be part of the community development,” said Kwambala.
He further said part of the money raised from the event will go towards renovating Church of God in Christ and helping Roman Catholic Church in their project of building a youth hall.
“The event will also empower informal businesses in Area W because spectators will be buying from their stalls,” said Kwambala.
The Itekeng Ward councilor urged people to attend in large number as the event will be free.
He thanked the event sponsors Boitshoko Mokgatle and Kabelo Ntobezi who donated P10 000 each.
Kwamabala appreciated the support he is getting from Francistown City Council and Fire Department for providing first aid services. He said there will be lots of give aways and the winner of the raffle will get a weekend for two at courtesy of Adansonia Hotel.
