Director General of Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC), Bruno Paledi, has dismissed reports that he leaked confidential information to suspects.
According to a source, Paledi who was supposed to travel with other Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers and some senior members to a retreat in Gantsi this week was asked to remain behind.
It is alleged that the reason for him being left behind came after it transpired that he leaked confidential information pertaining to high profile cases. “We are talking of high profile cases and with information having been leaked to suspects, a number of people are going to walk free,” said the source.
However, Paledi dismissed the allegations saying there is no how he can leak information. “I am the custodian of that information and cannot leak it.”
He also added that he was not aware of his pending dismissal.
Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary to the President, Carter Morupisi explained Paledi’s last minute omission. “He was asked to remain behind because of an assignment he was given.”
