A woman whose boyfriend is facing multiple rape charges broke down in tears this morning after a Lobatse Magistrates court denied him bail.
48- year old, Prudence Moilwa, wept uncontrollably outside the courtroom as she claimed that her man was innocent. “He did not rape that woman. It was an agreement that she would pay for one day’s accommodation with sex,” she said.
Reuben Shampis Morule appeared before Chief Magistrate Mareledi Dipate charged with two counts of rape and robbery.
Morule who has three other pending rape cases pleaded with the court to grant him bail.
In today’s court appearance, Morule is alleged to have raped a woman and stole her tablet and P1 400.00 worth of cash.
He was later nabbed by the police in poseession of the stolen tablet.
Morule is said to have committed the rape while on bail following the rape of other women aged 19 and 20 years on separate occasions.
State Prosecutor, Motlamorago Lesokola, told the court that it will not be fair to give the accused bail, considering his violation of bail conditions. “I will call the investigating officer to rebut the bail conditions,” said Lesokola.
