Banking sector holds a beauty pageant
Botswana Savings Bank hosted a successful Ms Interbanks pageant at the Gaborone International Convention Centre last Saturday.
The pageant was the second event of the planned three weeks of interbanks shows. The first event was a pre- party at Duma FM grounds last week and the third and final event will the ball sports and after party this Saturday.
Speaking at the pageant, BSB acting Managing Director Boikhutso Tekane said as according to this year’s theme (2011 the year of elevation), the interbanks events are meant to give young people a platform to showcase their different talents away from their daily office routines.
“As financial institutions we have a responsibility to contribute in any way to the positive living of our communities. We have a good number of young people under our employ and it is only sensible that we engage them in activities like these where they have a chance to interact with their customers,” said Tekane.
He said financial institution should not be viewed only as money centers, but places where an ordinary person can find comfort.
The notion that financial institutions employ some of the most beautiful ladies was confirmed as 13 local financial institutions slugged it out for the coveted crown.
Urged on by the crowd the girls strutted their stuff elegantly dressed like real princesses. Master of ceremonied for the night and Mnet show Tonight with Trevor Noah script writer Tshepo Mogale had the audience in stitches with his witty ways of looking at things.
After their first parade local rapper Jujuboy made a grand entrance, floating from the building’s roof in a metallic cage and delivered his hit tune ‘Hurt Me’ to a screaming crowd. However the best was saved for last.
After a musical break judges that included Tshepo Ntshole, Odirile Merafhe, Segomotso Magora, Mothusi Lesolle and Dr Nomakubu Oagile selected their top eight.
After a long deliberation the judges finally announced their top four, and from the gorgeous ladies FNB’s Thato Keabetswe was crowned Ms Interbanks 2011 and took home P10 000. Her first princes is Mosa Gaotlhobogwe who pocketed P5000. BSB’s Botho Ramonkga took the last position and a sum of P3000.
