Fantastic five for FWB
STYLISH: Fashion Without Boarders show

Mr Price handpicks 5 designers for a fashion Internship!

The annual Fashion Without Borders (FWB) came to a triumphant close last Saturday following three action-packed, fashion-filled days.

The 2019 installment marked a major milestone for FWB as it celebrated five years of giving aspiring designers a platform to exhibit their works to the world.

The show, the brainchild of Serge Kabisoso and Tebo Bakwena, kicked-off last Thursday at the National Museum in Gaborone. The catwalk then moved on to the GrandPalm, where the fun continued for the next two nights.

This year’s edition had a distinct continental feel to it, attracting designers and models from Mozambique, South Africa, Kenya and Zambia, as well as their local counterparts.

However, Kabisoso says he would like to see the event incorporate more designers from other international countries as it continues to grow.

Among those who showcased their work were Botswana’s Lenita Designs, Tlatlana Designs and Switch Couture.

South Africa was represented by the likes of Mocha Chic, Giga Guru and Mabdesigns, while Stella Customized Kenya flew the flag for Kenya.

There were a number of exhibitors from Zambia, including Blink Africa Designs, Sunshine Haute Couture and MK72 Fashion House, which all came to showcase their unique and glamorous designs.

As well as providing designers with a gateway to the globe, FWB prides itself as a stepping-stone for models to strut their stuff.

A moment worthy to note is when Mr Price handpicked 5 impeccable designers, 3 of which are from Botswana for an all-expenses said fashion internship for 3 weeks in Durban.

The 3 local designers who will marvel at the fashion operations of an internship this caliber under Mr Price Group, are Tekanyo ketsile of Narce, Lesego Mmolawa of Lenita designs, Kanyo Molale of Kanyo M, Other two established designers that will further learn the tricks of the trade, and get sensitized on the business of fashion are established designers Charity Karimi of Stella Customized from Kenya and Nivaldo Thierry from Mozambique – a specially tailored and customised training that will directly address the needs of their businesses.

The main event, which took place on Friday, attracted a sizeable crowd, the majority of whom came donned in their glittering African attires adding an extra dimension to an already colourful evening.
