Two year old mauled by family Rottweiler dogs
A two year old boy from Moshupa village is fighting for recovery at Bokamoso private hospital after he was attacked by two Rottweiler family dogs last weekend.
The two raging dogs are said to have attacked the boy’s family at Moshupa’s Kgosing ward during feeding time.
According to Station Commander for Moshupa Police, Onneetse Gagogosha, the horrific incident took place when the family attempted to feed the dogs way after the regular feeding time.
“A 23-year old female family member went to the dog cages with two children and immediately after opening the cages the dogs attacked them,” said Gagogosha.
He said all the family members escaped with body scratches and the dogs left the two year old boy in a critical condition with deep wounds and brutally scratched.
“The family reported the incident, but there wasn’t much we could do as the dogs are their private property,” he said.
He said after the family lodged a complaint about their dogs, police officers rushed to the scene and took the wounded family members to the hospital where some were treated and discharged immediately.
“The two year old was transferred from Moshupa primary clinic, to Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone and was later transferred to Bokamoso where he is still hospitalised,” he said.
Gagogosha advised people who keep vicious dog breeds to stick to regular feeding times as the animals can be lethal when hungry.
