Debswana Corporate Social Investment Policy (CSI) last week showed their commitment  towards sharing with the community the profit they make from extracting diamonds. 
The Debswana Diamond Development Awareness team have taken the initiative to travel around Orapa and surrounding areas spreading awareness regarding the benefits of diamonds in the socio-economic development of Botswana
Speaking to the Tsodilo Community Trust which also benefited from CSI,  Chief Surveyor Matlhogonolo Motswela said that Debswana helped with village development programs. Debswana, she said, donated 10 million pula last year to Tsodilo community Trust to help them in their project of conserving Tsodilo Hills heritage site. She revealed that, contributing to HIV/AIDS programs Debswana was the first company to give its employees frees ARVs. “So far Debswana contribute to major community development projects, contruction of Lethakane –Francistown road which cost 22 million Pula, Damtsha road 13 million and for now we are constructing Mmatshumo road. Donations to various community projects and institutions 0.5 million. We have built two classrooms in Mmadikola village and also connected the electricity. We have also contributed two million Pula to government ART program,” she said.
