Comedy for The Nation of Botswana in conjunction with Cresta President Hotel will this Saturday host a family fun day at the Botanical Gardens in Gaborone.
The event will be held under the theme ‘Have Fun, Eat healthy, sleep well’ and is a foundation of healthy lifestyle.
Food on the day will be a diet recommended by the hotel chef. After the activities, there will be comedy night at the President hotel.
Speaking during a press briefing the hotel Sales Manager Pearl Kuhlman said the aim of this event is to create awareness on healthy eating in preventing diabetes disease.
She said they decided to partner with comedy association to help them raise funds.
“The Ministry of Health will also be part of this activity as September is a month of diabetes.
This will give them a platform to relay health information to attendants.
We are part of the society so we care about positive living and well being of people.
As we approach festive season, we know people develop eating disorder. People are advised to adapt to a system called Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point when eating.”We are hoping that the event will be done annually,” said Kuhlman.
Ribcracker Letsatsi of Comedy Association said his aim is to raise funds to take comedians for further training in South Africa early next year.He said this event also promote art of comedy.
“The association wants to turn local comedy into a profession so that artists can earn a living from their talent. We want the association to grow and in future have awards just like Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU). Cresta should be commended for helping us at all times,’ he said.
Tickets will be sold at the hotel at P150 per adults and P50 for children above six year.
