Two members of Botswana Police were found dead on Tuesday after a Police Constable from Pilane went on shooting spree at Kuke gate along Maun and Gantsi road.
According to a Junior officer who is not authorised to talk to the media, the constable who was part of the Special Support Group (SSG) team which is on a three months trip went berserk after his plea to join a team which was Maun bound was turned down by his supervisor.
“He wanted to join a team which was going to Maun but his boss refused saying he has been going to Maun many times and should give others a chance,” he said.
The source said that the junior officer was told that he would only go to Maun on Friday with the other team. “That is when he went inside the tent dressed up on his uniform and came out with an AK-47 and shot his boss before turning the gun on himself.”
It is said that all the officers who were at the scene ran for their lives when the shooting started.
The deceased senior officer is said to be an Inspector from Molepolole.
Efforts to get a comment from the Police were futile as they said they were still preparing a Press Release.
