Celeb edition with Jujuvine

He broke onto the scene with his short comical videos on social media, often at the backlash of the public’s scrutiny over his ‘jokes’. This week, CELEB EDITION takes a fun-filled drive with Juju Vine.

Q. How did you realise your passion for comedy?

A. It all started from school. I was said to be the naughty one, even some of my cousins used to tell me that! In 2014/15, I started doing videos and uploaded them on social media.

Eventually, I got a call from Motsweding FM and they told me my videos were trending and they wanted to interview me.

After the interview, I started getting bookings from all over.

Q. Is it something you do as a hobby?

A. It’s now a business even though I don’t do it full time coz of other commitments.

Q. Have you ever been booed off stage?

A. I have never been booed off stage, never! (laughs).

Q. Have you ever had a joke gone bad?

A. Yes it happened twice.

I made a joke about Hon Makgatho and Amantle Montsho sometime ago and Amantle didn’t take it well.

It went viral and was all over social media.

Another one was about panty liners; the women did not like it!

Q. If you were to die and come back to life, which animal would you choose to come back as?

A. Wa re goswa! (For the why?) But seriously I’d love to come back as a donkey, for bodipa hela le go kobakoba tsa merobanyana (for stubbornness and to chase after the young ones).

Q. Documentaries or Soapies?

A. Documentaries for sure.

I only used to watch Soapies back when I had an 8 to 5 job because I would get home after a long day at work and sit in front of the TV and relax.

Documentaries are more like real life stories so I enjoy them more.

Q. What are your thoughts on legalising abortion?

A. It’s a tricky one but I would be on the negative; no I don’t support it.

People should know what happens when they have sex let alone unprotected sex.

People should have a plan rather than killing innocent souls.

Q. Would you marry a second wife if given the chance?

A. Nope! My wife is more than enough.

Q. Have you ever spent time in jail?

A. No!

Q. Five things people don’t know about you?

  • I have participated in The Toyota 1000 (Mantshwabisi) race many times.
  • I have been to Tirelo Sechaba
  • I am also a certified Computer Networking guru with A+, N+, CCNA (Cisco)
  • I will be celebrating my 15th wedding anniversary this year
  • I am a farmer
