The Botswana Golf Union last week hosted the second edition of Dr. Kina Kim Invitational Golf Championship. The tournament attracted 60 participants and top players from southern golf and northern clubs. The main objective of the tournament was to raise funds for the Francistown Golf Club and Botswana Golf Union Junior Development.
Speaking after the Tournament Dr. Kim said it was held solely for the love of
sport and to give back to the community of Francistown.
He also revealed that he wants to start a club called one percent responsible for social work and development of sports in Botswana.
He said if local companies can contribute a percentage of their profit towards sports there could be well organized sports development programs in the country. “Francistown made me who I am, so I want to give back to the community. The little extra money I get from my business has to come back where I grew up. I could do it in Gaborone or where I stay in South Africa but I don’t have heart for those places, my heart is here. I urge business people to follow my steps, giving is a way of sharing happiness,” said Dr. Kim Meanwhile Edwin Madigela won in professional golfers category and all the professionals walked away with P2000 for their appearances.
