Construction of the iconic Botswana Innovation Hub building which commenced in August 2014 is scheduled to be completed during 2016.
The parks construction is said to be a major national project that represents a significant investment in the country’s infrastructure development.
Officials say its central buildings are a world class, iconic masterpiece of architecture whose designs won the 2013 Auto Desk Design Awards.
With 23,000m2 of commercial development space, the Icon Building is expected to house both local and international innovative businesses and institutions thereby creating a network that fosters entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and innovation.
In addition to creating jobs, Icon Building tenants, it is hoped, will create other spin-off benefits that will spur economic growth.
BIH signed a lease agreement with Dimension Data to occupy 800m2 and Alpha Direct on 700m2 of Space in the Icon Building.
Other innovation aligned tenants are continuing to be identified as the construction proceeds, including Oracle, Huawei, Samsung, Microsoft, Vista Life and Ericsson.
The project is expected to create more than 800 employment opportunities at peak period.
