SOCIAL SCENE: 5-A-Side in action

The world over, the 5-a-side games are played every now and then during practice games with the aim of giving coaches time to work closely with their players.
It is also an event that needs maximum attention as the ground is small and the ball is constantly on motion.
Much closer to home the Gaborone Indoor Soccer League will on June 5 host the annual tournament that has been in existence for the past 10 years.
Your favourite newspaper, The Voice, will once again shelve their ink and slates as they join at least 50 other corporate teams at the Bank of Botswana grounds for a spectacular non-profit making 5-A-Side soccer showpiece.
According to the chief organiser of the tournament, Obonetse Mothelesi no players from competitive leagues would be allowed in the social tournament.
“We will obviously have some retired players and a lot of social teams. The main aim is to encourage all our players, members and supporters to utilise and promote our sponsors products and services whenever possible. We also intend to promote fair play, healthy living for all members and participants as well as the growth and development of 5-a-side soccer.”
Once more The Voice team will battle it out with their counterparts and this time they have vowed to go all out and show that they don’t only do news but can also play football.
