Childline Botswana is a non- governmental organization that has been in Botswana since 1991. Its main mandate is to help abused children.
It also seeks to address other child related welfare issues through nurturing and intervention strategies like education, counselling, casework and alternative care programs such as the place of Safety where children under the age of 5 years are temporarily accommodated until a permanent solution is devised; either adoption or foster care.
Such children may have been victims of abuse, negligence abandonment or any other social ills that affect children and make their current settlements, not safe enough for them to stay in.
As a way of raising funds, Childline Botswana hosts an annual Sports and Family Fun day. Entities register and participate in different sports codes where winners walk away with medals and trophies.
It is a great platform for different stakeholders to showcase their products and services and it also enhances the team building spirit within members of the participating organisations.
A kiddies section is available where various forms of entertainment are provided for the children who attend the event.
This year, the event will be running its 3rd year and it is going to be held at the Bank of Botswana Grounds.
The fun and games commence from 8am until late. Some of the games to be payed include soccer, volleyball, netball, tug of war, egg race, athletics and many more.
Entertainment during the day will include performances by Mapetla, T.H.A.B.O, BK Proctor and others.
The kids will enjoy different games such as pony riding, face painting, hidden treasure hunts, fasting doughnut to name a few.
The event is proudly supported by Junior Miss Botswana, Gaborone Private Hospital, The Voice Newspaper, O3 Beverages, Gantsi Beef, Webtickets, Botswana Craft Marketing,
Master Joinery & Aluminium. Tickets are sold at P50 for adults and P25 for kids, available at all Webickets outlets country wide and at Childine Botswana in Block 7.
