SA Tourism hosts journalists in Cape Town
More than 25 journalists from six different countries in the SADC region spent their weekend in Cape Town, South Africa for the annual J&B Met horse race and to experience some of the beauty that the city has to offer.
Their hosts was SA Tourism and according to the organization’s Country Manager – Southern Africa, Nothando Mathe this is part of their active marketing in the region especially in countries whose nationals are regular visitors to South Africa.
The countries included Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Angola and Democratic Republic of Congo.
“People from these countries are our regular tourists and we have to make sure that we intensify our marketing so that they continue coming while those who have never visited see the need to do so. South Africa has a lot to offer for tourists and we have to make sure that all our attractions and crowd pulling events are known and well marketed,’’ she said.
She said by bringing journalists from various countries in the region to cover events around South Africa they hope to get maximum coverage and exposure which would in turn further attract visitors to those events and the country at large.
“This is part of our four year plan. Tourism plays a major role in the South African economy and thus as SA Tourism we have the mandate to ensure that the country continues to be a prime destination,” said Mathe.
