STEP OUT IN A SIZZLE
By Mpho Laing
In his latest Louis Vuitton collection, head designer Marc Jacobs has hit the fashion industry with fuchsia (which is a purplish-reddish or deep purplish-pink colour) as the quintessential colour of the season. Being one season behind in terms of trends, we in Botswana would probably pick up this colour in the next season. Interestingly though, a few local sisters should be given props for uplifting our streets’ spirits with a bit of colour that is not that parallel to fuchsia.
Coats, dresses, tops, shoes, purses... Fuchsia invades it all with a wave of energy that revitalizes the dullest days.
“Applied in basic cut garments and lady style, the contrast will be very effective offering a simple and modern image with a touch of punk,” says a fashion expert.
And I say, “Combined with black, fuchsia gives spectacular effects!”

Asun Parra, the founder of Elite-makeup says: “Throw away everything that...
  • Is expired. Some products expire three months after being opened, like mascara; others expire after six months, like some foundations and concealers; and others expire after one year, such as some blushes and lipsticks. Look for the symbol on the container, which will let you know the expiration date. If you don't remember when you bought it, get rid of it!
  • Is broken. Yes, it's happened to us all - we buy a divine eye shadow, and two days later it's broken. You don't want to throw it away, but it just ends up making a huge mess...
  • You don't like. If there are products in your make-up bag that you simply don't like, throw them out. Put them somewhere else, give them away, or pitch them, but don't let them take up space in your everyday make-up bag.”

Hey Gal!
I am a make-up girl and am always out to purchase the latest and hottest additions. Sometimes I find myself with lots of various products filling up my make-up bag, though I end up not using them. I can’t stand it when they make a mess of my other products or even worse, clothes. Please advice the sister on how to go about this waste.
Lorato, Gabs City

Hey Lorato,
I confess I am not an expert in the make-up industry and thus have made it an effort to find you information from a professional point of view. Check what Parra says on Make-up 101.
