CHEATED: Tau Powane
A 54-year-old single man of Moganetsi ward in Mochudi was caught red handed in bed with a married woman and instead of running away as could be expected, he threatened his lover’s husband before jumping back to bed again.
Sekang Swaneng waslast Tuesday brought before the Mochudi Customary Court by Tau Powane, of Mathubudukwane who is now demanding six beasts from him.
Testifying before Kgosi Mainole Komane, Powane also 54, spoke of how he had in May found Swaneng naked in his bed with his wife, Baile.
Powane told the court on the day he left Mathubudukwane before sunrise as he was going for a job interview at the Kgatleng District Council and also wanted to brief his wife on the health of two of their children staying with him.
“When I got to my wife’s rented room in Mochudi I knocked and she enquired who I was. I did not respond and knocked again. She then came to the door naked and opened for me,’’ he narrated.
The scorned hubby went on to tell the court that while inside his wife’s room, a naked Swaneng then got out of bed and walked around the room threatening him before going back into the blankets.
“I then grabbed his clothes which were on a chair and ran out of the room. I ran away because I was afraid my wife and her lover would gang up and beat me up”, Powane said.

Instead of going to the interview as intended Powane said he walked back to Mathubudukwane with the clothes and reported the matter to the tribal administration authorities who advised him to take the case to his parents and in laws.
“Our families tried to reconcile us but in vain. At first my wife denied sleeping with Swaneng but later admitted to it. She however did not show any remorse and that is when both parties of parents suggested that I bring the matter to the Kgotla. I want this man to pay for sleeping with my wife and for wrecking my marriage”, he said dismissing insinuations that he might have connived with his wife to trap Swaneng and make some cash.
The cheated husband added that even though his wife had been unfaithful and seemed not bothered by the hurt and embarrasment her infedility was causing him he still loved her and wanted to rebuild their unhealthy marriage.
For his part Swaneng admitted to having an affair with Baile, but seemed not to show remorse for his action as he said in court: “I did not use force to get sex from Baile. Everything was done on mutual agreement between me and her.”
Quizzed on whether he was willing to pay for sleeping with another man’s wife he said: “I will try but I do not have any money or cattle”, the unemployed marriage wrecker said.
Kgosi Komane will deliver his decision on August 10.
