P40 bribe lands man in high court

A Zimbabwean man who attempted to avoid a traffic charge by offering a P48.50 bribe to a cop along the Nata-Maun road has been charged with corruption.

Appearing before Francistown Chief Magistrate, Gaedupe Makgatho this week, Bernard Mabasa Masango, 48, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Court papers have stated that Masango of Block I location in Francistown was caught driving 90 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone and he allegedly tried to avoid paying a traffic fine by offering a female cop named Kenanao Sekgware P 48, 50.

He was granted bail and ordered to surrender his traveling documents to the police.

Kedibonye Motswakae, prosecuted while Magistrate Makgatho who presided over the matter referred it to the high court where all corruption cases are tried despite how minor they seem.
