The festival will be held at Monarch primary cricket centre which was launched last year. The tournament will attract under 14 players from 20 primary schools in the second city.
Northern region cricket development coach Clement Chipanga told Voice Sport that the festival is meant to provide game of cricket in its simplest form to children and at the same time having fun.
He said they are trying to give each child irrespective of their ability an opportunity to play cricket.
“As BCA we are moving along with BNSC goal of skills development programme that seek to introduce sports to children at an early age.
Players will have fun at the same time acquiring skills in an enjoyable environment. This festival is also part of monitoring and evaluating how the centre helps to develop cricket.” Said Chipanga
He said during the games as development coach he will be monitoring if the right skills are being taught to players.
Chipanga said players are still going through a learning curve but he was impressed by their performance during the just ended BOPSSA games.
