Local rapper Euri (Tebogo Motsie) has made a giant leap forward in his career as an independent musician this week after signing an agreement with the international music publishing company, Sheer Publishing.
The artist could not contain his excitement as he took to Facebook to announce to his fans that his visit to Johannesburg bore fruit and it was all in black and white.
Sheer Publishing, who won the award for publisher of the year at the 2014 Wawela Awards recently, represent the music rights of many internationally renowned artists including Oliver Mthukudzi, Zahara and DJ Fresh.
The new agreement with Euri would cover publishing for his brand new album aptly titled, From Francistown With Love, as well as his previous two award winning releases.
It also ensures recognition of his products from royalty collection societies across the globe including South Africa’s SAMRO.
Interviewed on the new contract, Euri said, “I am very excited that my music would now be placed correctly to be heard by the right people across the world. This includes movie producers looking for soundtracks and many other music users,” he said.
Euri said this is just one of the small steps his management is taking to ensure that his brand begins to grow outside the Botswana territory.
“After making songs with renowned artists such as HHP on my new album, it’s comforting to now know that when my songs are played outside Botswana I shall have proper representation,” said Euri.
He further said there are a few more deals in the pipeline with very reputable key players in international music that would ensure that in two years to come the EURI name and his music would be known very well outside Botswana.
“Obviously I also still have a lot of work to do in catching up with my international competition,” said the excited Euri.
In other news, it was also announced this week that Euri would be one of the 25 performers at the Leap Frog initiative, Gaborone International Music and Culture Week.
