That Armstrong Dikgafela is no more is no longer news. Dikgafela took a journey many young people of his age were afraid to take.
He entered the political terrain still wet behind his ears.
He first cut his teeth in partisan politics at Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
He rose to occupy the position of Chairman of the Youth League.
He was a strong advocate of youth empowerment. A sport fanatic and a swim instructor that he was at the time of his untimely death Dikgafela will also be missed by the sporting fraternity.
Although he was the Chairman of the Botswana Democratic Party Youth League (BDPYL), he was amongst the first people who formed Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) in 2010.
He was later to become its first interim Chairman of the youth league.
He later reconciled with BDP and he had a hero’s welcome at the party’s 50th anniversary at the National Stadium.
He was welcomed publicly by President Ian Khama in the presence of visiting Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete.
Armstrong held many leadership roles in the BDP’s Central Committee. May his soul rest in peace.
