Barclays Africa has in conjunction with Visa awarded 28 customers with all-paid for expenses trips to watch the 2014 FIFA World Cup which began in Brazil on 12 June.
In Botswana, two customers and their partners were lucky winners of the Barclays 2014 FIFA World Cup swipe and win campaign. Muhammed Ismail and Victor Ramalepa won themselves tickets for two to the semifinal and final respectively.
Announcing the awards, Barclays Bank of Botswana Managing Director, Reinette van der Merwe said as part of their commitment to offer competitive rewards to loyal customers, they are sending Muhammed and Victor for a once in a lifetime experience to the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.
“The awards have been made possible through our strong partnership with Visa as we continue to lead in innovating payment solutions that meet the ever-changing needs of our customers”, she added.
The awards were designed as part of the continuous customer engagement program that Barclays runs across the continent to reward loyal customers and promote the use of card over cash. Barclays runs various programs to make it easier for customers to switch and recently they have launched the chip and pin cards to make it safer for customers to pay with their cards.
According to Barclays Africa Consumer Banking Director Rajal Vaidya, Barclays has the most comprehensive solution for all payment needs of customers spanning from cards to mobile and they provide wide range of benefits like the World miles card for frequent travelers to Barclays Premier League Card for football fans.
“On the back of these innovative programs and solutions, Barclays was recently awarded the Asian Banker prize for the Best Credit Cards business in Africa,” he stated.
Barclays FIFA 2014 World Cup winners were drawn from Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and Zambia. The package includes round trip flights, four-star accommodation, ground transport and transfers, spending money and match tickets. The winners will start travelling on 24 June 2014 and will have an opportunity to watch Group Stage, Round 16, Semi-Final and Final matches. Each winner will travel with a companion. In total there will be 28 customers travelling; 14 winners, each travelling with a companion.
Four of the round 16 winners also have a backstage VIP experience, where they will get an opportunity to walk on the pitch during half time, take pictures and interact with the official FIFA mascot. The winners travelling to the finals will be accommodated on the cruise ship MSC Divina.
