Over 20 artists took part at the Tjinyunyi Babili concert last Saturday night to raise funds for the SOS Francistown village.
The SOS village is home to close to 2 000 children.
Vincent Shima Ramaeba, the Francistown SOS chairperson for the Fundraising Committee said their main focus was on the welfare of the children currently residing at the village and on the village’s family based care programme.
He said some children stay at the village while others are being taken care of at their homesteads due to inadequate accommodation.
P16 000 was raised and would be channeled towards the purchase of winter clothing for the children.
One of the artists who participated at the event, MC Maswe (Thapelo Maleka) said the decision was taken by the artistes with the view of giving back to the community.
Francistown based DJ Colastraw (Bonno Ngaka) left a long lasting impression at a Mozambican nightclub on Saturday night.
The Francistown-born lad’s short stay in South Africa between 2007 and 2012 resulted in him mixing music in a Portuguese club.
It is at this club that the talented DJ, nurtured his relationship with the Mozambicans.
And last Saturday night marked his second performance at Tisco Teka Club in Mozambique’s Manica. DJ Colastraw has managed to win the hearts of many Mozambicans hence the Tisco Teka club management continuing to book him at the venue.
If everything goes as planned, DJ Colastraw is expected to be making constant trips to Mozambique.
ARTISTS AND POLITICS: REVELERS LEFT IN THE LURCH
With political parties launching week in week out, revelers at nightclubs and main musical halls are seemingly being left out in the lurch.
This weekend, Francistown’s nightlife will be as quite as a graveyard as no artist has been booked to perform at most of the hangout joints in the city and halls.
Artists have been booked to perform at different political events across the country. Popular Charma Gal will be performing tomorrow at Vain Mamela’s launch this Saturday.
Mma Mogwe said she is coming to Francistown specifically for the BCP launch and no other performances on the night.
A call to the Lizard Entertainment management established that there will be nothing happening at the Francistown ultimate entertainment centre this weekend.
Indeed, revelers have been left out in the lurch.
