courtPOLICE SUSPECT PRISON ESCAPEES

Maun police are investigating a case in which two female teachers at Maun Senior School were robbed of their valuable items while watching television in their house at night.

Acting Station Commander Assistant Superintendent Zhabi Hulela said the two unsuspecting  teachers aged 21 and 35 respectively were enjoying a relaxed Sunday in their living room when the two robbers pounced on them.

The two men, Hulela has revealed, were armed with big sticks and sharp instruments. They tied the two women’s hands and feet together with ropes before getting away with three cell phones and a car.

Apparantly the robbers had gone around around the school before knocking on teachers doors only to run away when a man came to the door.

“We do suspect the 23 and 32 year- old men who escaped from Maun State prison on the same day.”

The two escapees are Orifile Kantse, 25, of Motopi village who was serving a 25 year jail term for robbery and rape and Allen Mpofu from Zimbabwe who was serving a 24 month sentence for shop breaking.

Hulela said that the two escapees cut the prison fence to get away. He however appealed to the public to help in the arrest the armed and dangerous duo.
