Speaking to Voice Sport this week, the organizer of the tournament, Goitsemodimo Mokoti, said the games are meant to give teams match practice since it is off season.
He said it will give coaches time to assess new players and players who are on trial.
“This is a pre-season tournament which will help teams prepare for next season. Ghetto teams did not do so well in the past season and we are concerned about their performance. Such games will help to test players’ fitness and also help them for the 2014/2015 season. Next time we want this tournament to be big and be broadcasted on television with better prize money,” said Mokoti.
He said they intend to make it an annual event with money raised from the tournament being donated to a chosen charity organisation.
The tournament is sponsored by Barloworld, Buy ‘n’ Build and Pick ‘n’ Pay.
There will be entertainment provided by Mc Maswe, Acuz, Dj Phat Tee, Young Raphy and other local artists. Entrance fee is P30.
