Stanbic Bank Botswana has continued in its drive to support key sporting initiatives, this time joining the growing list of local businesses sponsoring the upcoming African Youth Games.

Stanbic Bank has contributed to the refurbishment of tennis courts at the National Tennis Centre in Gaborone.

The sponsorship, valued at P100,000.00 was shared with Botswana African Youth Games Organising Committee (BAYGOC) CEO, Tuelo Serufho.


PPC Botswana, the local cement manufacturing company has announced its 17th annual sponsorship of the PPC ‘King of the Hill’ marathon, which aligns to PPC’s “Strength beyond the bag” campaign.

The event takes place on 8 June 2014 at Wharic Park in Commerce Park.

The total prize money for this year’s race is P250, 000.00, which includes several cash prizes and medals.

Snacks, drinks and race t-shirts will be available for all participants.

The race will have 8 categories for both males and females, namely junior, senior, veteran and master and winners within these categories will be awarded prizes.

Over 500 runners from around the country and the region are expected in what has become a major draw card for athletes, the media and the general public in Botswana and the region.


Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BUIST) vice chancellor, Professor Hillary Inyang says the university will work with all stakeholders to enhance information, communication and technology (ICT) research to bring about sustainable development.

Professor Inyang also said the university had made recommendations to the government to support liberalisation and to bring technical experts to teach the youth in Botswana about ICT.
