While a flattered few gush about their invitation to Botswana’s music star Odirile ‘Vee’ Sento’s wedding, the president, Ian Khama has apparently snubbed the couple’s big occasion.
Vee, (31) and his long time girlfriend Kagiso De Klerk (27) are set to tie the knot in a much publicised big flashy wedding at Ruretse this Saturday.
Expressing his frustrations over some of the wedding preparations Vee posted on Facebook that his parents had refused with some of the 500 invitation cards on grounds that the event was a wedding and not a music festival.
To add to Vee’s worries President Khama turned down the invitation on account of pressing matters.
Speaking to The Voice Senior Private Secretary to the President Brigadier General George Thalerwa said that the President declined the invitation because of his ‘ tight schedule over the weekend.”
“We will be attending Prisons Day on Saturday in Mahalapye and Vee’s wedding is on the same day. On the same the weekend the president will also travel to Letsibogo and Dikgathong Dam before attending Botswana Economic Advisory Council in Selibe Phikwe, so you can see that Vee’s wedding clashes with our programmes, ” said Tlhalerwa who went on to explain that the Op could not send someone on behalf of the president because he was invited in his personal capacity.
Meanwhile to compound Vee’s wedding problems a photo shoot that was expected to take place at Phakalane Golf Estate on Saturday at noon has been cancelled according to a close family member.
Information reaching our desk is that Phakalane Golf Estate Manager,Lesang Magang made it clear that contrary to what has been stated in the invitation cards, there will be no photo shoot at Phakalane tomorrow.
An employee at the Golf Estate who did not want to be named explained that in order to have a photo shoot at the venue, you have to book one of their facilities first which the celebrity couple did not do. “If you want to shoot your photos here, you book our facilties and pay P10 000 in advance and then choose your favourite menu but Vee wanted the photo shoot only and his request was turned down. You don’t just come and shoot without using our facility.” She said.
Magang however refused to comment on the issue saying he does not discuss any hotel bookings associated with Phakalane with the public.
Vee and his fiancée did not take our calls.
The wedding will be held tomorrow in Ruretse at Vee’s parents’ farm with estimated number of 500 guests.
