BOCCIM in collaboration with the South Africa Turkish Business Association organized a trade mission to Istanbul, Turkey recently.
The trade mission, according to BOCCIM’s Marketing and Public Relations Officer, Sheila Moribame, was dedicated to women in business who attended the first Turkey-Africa; Women Entrepreneurs Trade Bridge summit. “The summit themed, ‘Africa-Turkey Women Entrepreneurs Trade Bridge,’was done to create a platform for African businesswomen to meet with Turkish manufacturers and business investors. The conference was aimed at bridging business opportunities both in Turkey and Africa,” she said in a media release.
Women in the emerging and developing world are considered important in entrepreneurship development. As a female entrepreneur local business woman,FuthiMononi of Crown Bakery, says the trade mission helped her a lot as she got to interact with other businesswomen from around Africa.
She managed to benchmark with a Turkish company called “TT Group” which is interested in setting up a power plant station and TV station in Botswana.
Moribame says the purpose of these missions is to further deepen ties with other international entrepreneurs and leverage the strategic relationship between local and international entrepreneurs in order to increase bi-lateral trade and investment.
“As BOCCIM we highly recommend our members who are interested in expanding into international markets to utilize this platform. Moreover we encourage a framework for cooperation of trade at all levels, as we believe Africa is the most promising continent in the world. Locally, we have successfully hosted more than five missions whilst internationally we have led BOCCIM members to more than six countries,” she said
