In Selebi-Phikwe West BCP’s Dithapelo Keorapetse claimed the top spot in The Voice opinion poll with 47% of the popular vote this week.
But right behind the BCP youth league president in second position was veteran politician Moeti Mohwsa of the UDC with 43% while BDP’s candidate Opelo Makhandlela trailed behind with a paltry 10%.
Meanwhile there were no surprises in the Okavango constituency as the incumbent MP Bagalatia Arone of the BCP romped to victory with a comfortable 46% of the popular vote.
Arone has long proved to be the Okavango people’s favourite in the BDP primary elections when he was voted for by over 3000 people.
BDP candidate Kambimba Mbaga came second with 30% whilst UDC candidate Vista Moruti managed only 24% of the popular vote.
In the presidential elections Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) President Ian Khama continued to trail behind with 16% of the popular vote.
His counterpart at Botswana Congress Party, (BCP) President Dumelang Saleshando maintained second spot with 25% while Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) president Duma Boko emerged the readers’ favourite one more time.
Boko continues to lead the pack with a comfortable 55% of the popular vote.
In overall constituencies UDC slipped down by 1% to 47% this week.
BDP increased its popularity from last week’s 19% to 20% whilst the BCP maintained its 30% of the popular vote. 3% of the votes were spoiled in this category.
