Oteng Moshotle’s House University vol 1 album is a must have. DJ Oats should now have the respect he deserves with this album.

For a DJ who has produced hits for his colleagues, this 14 track production will definitely make the world take note. Hits like Bukalanga, Ngoma yorira and my favourite “Maloba” have really tickled my fancy.

The album features some of the best local talent among others Konkrete, T.H.A.B.O, Apollo, Samba, A.T.I, Bernadette and many others.

After producing hits for the likes of House Junkies, Fondo Fire, La Timmy and Boogie Sid, it’s now time for Professor Oats. The album gets 8 out of 10.


One of Botswana’s prolific poets Legodile Seganabeng has dropped a new album dubbed “Poetic meditations”.

Popularly known by the name Dredd X, Seganabeng is one of the pioneers of the Poetavango projects that he heads in Maun.

Recorded and produced at Live Wire Productions the 15 track album fuses poetry, jazz and soul. The album comes with an inlay 12 page booklet complete with printed poems and lyrics.

Some of the songs in the album include ‘Want to write’, The value of X, Son of soil, Raindrops and Womankind.


JT Specialboy has become a trending name in local hip hop scene.

He has been featured in a couple of mix-tapes and singles in the country.

He has recently dropped an official single from his upcoming debut album titled God Given to drop later this year.

Jt tells Big Weekend that he personally produced the song; mixed and mastered it himself.

The song enjoyed a positive review on Scramble for Africa. He is a flawless rapper who is destined for big things. The song gets 8 out of 10.


Kentsimo Investments and Flag-Hi Productions will be producing and casting for the upcoming TV magazine show which will be filmed from June 2014 including drama and short stories.

Auditions have already been held in Lobatse and this coming Saturday talent will be scouted at Babusi hal in Gaborone.

The next stop will be Maun on 19th May. The project is manned by the experienced Kgomotso Ntshonono of ‘Beauty’ fame and Kenneth Cutrite Moeng.

The two are profound entertainers with an impressive track record.

The administration of the audition is P200 per person and starts on the below dates at 8am with a short workshop for those who would have registered.

The participants also get to be made a free professional Bio which will be given to the participant post the audition.


This Easter Holidays will see new music in shops.

Award winning Gospel artist Kabelo Eric has released a new album.

Curldyes will also attempt to bring Kwaito back with his album “Verse 2”. Produced by DJ Oats the album has songs with interesting titles such as “Satan re mkhandile”.

Other albums include Naak Musi’cLove and Music. MJ as he is know from Generations launched his album on Valentine’s Day in South Africa and the album will be launched in Kanye over the holidays.

Kolilwe a gospel artist has also dropped Uyi Nkosi. Watchout for the full reviews next wee.
