In our last column of the Grooving in the Ghetto with Shingirai Madondo, we were given an impression that American rapper Ja Rule (Jeffery Atkins) was billed to perform at Lizard Entertainment in Francistown tonight (Friday).
However, it has since been brought to the attention of Grooving in the Ghetto that Ja Rule will not be performing at Lizard Entertainment.
One of the performers- Bonno Ngaka popularly known as DJ Colastraw said the gig dubbed the Ja Rule Activation Party is all about selling tickets and assuring the nation that Ja Rule will indeed come to perform in Botswana in April.
Therefore the community of Francistown is urged to come and grab their tickets for the show. A number of DJs including Kellz have been lined up for the activation party.
Tonota College of Education (TCE) students and the general members of the community were on Friday night captivated by a splendid performance by MC Maswe (Thapelo Maleka) and Pearluza (Goitsemang Thomas) at the college hall.
Maswe, known for his theatrical dance moves on stage was a marvel to watch while little known Pearluza did not want to be outdone and displayed unique waist wiggling dance moves to the delight of the crowd.
Pint- sized Pearluza is fast becoming popular in the showbiz industry and if her performance on Friday was anything to go by then the likes of Charma Gal and Slizer have got every reason to be worried.
BOMU MEETS THE PRESS
Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU)’s Chapter 3 district (North East) committee will today (Friday) introduce itself to the media in Francistown at a press conference scheduled to take place at Thapama hotel.
Thapelo Maleka, the chapter 3 district chairperson said the event would also serve as the official opening of the union’s office here in the city.
According to Maleka, the event is aimed at alerting the corporate and general public about the existence of BOMU in Francistown and most of the northern region.
Maleka added that one of the chapter’s responsibilities is to perform the functions that may be assigned to them by the BOMU executive committee in Gaborone.
He is regarded as part of the old guard in the local showbiz industry. And it is not easy to talk of the country’s best entertainers without mentioning Frank Lesokwane (Franco).
This is due to his popularity owed to his good stage performance and vocals.
Alongside Thapelo Maleka (MC Maswe), Franco will tomorrow (Saturday) night perform at the BOCCIM Hall at a gig expected to be the biggest the city has seen since the beginning of the year.
The Rhumba guru is expected to sample his yet to be released album in Francistown.
In a telephone interview, Franco said his Francistown fans should count themselves lucky because they would be the first to hear how his forthcoming album will sound.
