MAID ON THE RUN AFTER TYING BABY TO THE BED
A distraught Mochudi mother was on Wednesday desperate to find a maid who tied her seven- months old baby to the bed, stole from her and disappeared.
Tebogo Legase, 32 hired a 19- year old woman who, to her shock and horror stole from her on the same day she was employed and left the baby tied to the bed and covered with a heap of clothes.
The maid,Phatsimo Ijani, 19, disappeared a week ago and up to now police haven’t been able to trace her.
Narrating her ordeal in an interview Legase said:“I was desperately looking for a child minder so I can go back to work when my friend introduced to me this seemingly pleasant young lady from Tutume.
She said that she was a former Naledi senior school student and had completed her form five in 2012 and she was looking for a temporary job.
That made me think that she could make a good nanny because she had a bit of education, so I hired her the same day.”
Ijani also surrendered her passport and identity card, which made Legase let her guard down even more.
But later that same day when she was at work she phoned the maid but her phone rang answered.
Soon after that she received a call from her husband letting her know that the young girl had been reported by the neighbours to have abandoned the child.
“I rushed home and indeed the maid was gone and so were my clothes, jewellery and cash amounting to P1, 200.00.”
The baby was found wrapped in a blanket, tied with a belt to the bed with a pile of clothes on top of her.
By time of going to the press police had not yet commented on the matter and Legase was hoping someone would identify the woman through the above picture and get her arrested.
