In its endevour to promote social corporate responsibility, First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) donate P10 000.00 to a Ramotswa disabled child over the weekend.
When handing over the cheque, NB Director- Public Sector Segment and eSolutions Business – Yolisa Phillips- Lejowa said the state in which the child, Moreri Mashiakgomo was in, was a distressing condition, let alone his mother who is expected to balance her work with that of caring for him.
“Living with disability is very costly since one has to pay for assistive devices.
The duty of caring and providing extensive support to a person with disabilities by family members can also be taxing as it has physical, emotional and psychological consequences for family members,” she said.
Lejowa further urged the community to supplement the efforts of parents and government, through contributing towards assisting people with disabilities.
“This can be done by supporting NGO’s providing services to people with disabilities and, employing people with disabilities so that they too can improve their quality of a life.”
The South Central Police Division also organized a dinner in efforts to raise more funds towards purchasing a specialized wheelchair tailor made for Mashiakgomo.
