Bank Gaborone this week held an innovation breakfast in collaboration with systems strategist Dr. Steyn Heckroodt, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
Heckroodt made a presentation on the power of innovation in dynamic environments.
For his part the Managing Director of Bank Gaborone Andre Barnard gave key highlights of the business’ performance to date.
Net interest income increased by 18% to BWP 132,5 million, net income after tax increased by 62% to BWP 27.5m customer loans increased by 11% to 2,12billion whilst customer deposits increased 28% to BWP 2,885 billion.
“Our business is premised on service, service, service,” said Barnard to an active audience which responded with shouting this Bank Gaborone value.
The morning started with Andre Barnard sharing financials and the business performance to date.
The idea for the event was to give attendants a feel of how the bank is performing and also to identify opportunities to do business with Bank Gaborone.
The guest speaker at the event renowned systems thinking strategist Dr.
Heckroodtis aco-founder and executive director of a strategy consulting company that assists businesses with their development plans on the African continent.
Dr. Heckroodt has previously facilitated for the Business School of the Netherlands, Da Vinci Institute in Gauteng and Stellenbosch University Institute for Futures Research.
Amongst his numerous publications, counts the book “Strategic Thinking – GAME OVER”, in which he reveals the strategic insights based on a seven year research project involving 121 local and internal organisations in a wide variety of industries.
