The Director of Delta Air Peter Wingfield Sandenbergh will soon appear before Maun Magistrate Court to answer for 19 counts of unauthorized salary deduction from one of his pilots.
Sandenbergh, 58, together with Kagiso Senwedi, 34, who is an Operations Manager are accused of conspiring to deduct an amount of P800.00 from Tshepo Sepopa’s monthly salary.
The amount was deducted from September 2011 until March 2013.
It is said Sandenbergh had agreed with Sepopa to deduct P800 from his monthly salary and pay the total to him at the end of a 24 months continuous service with the airline.
Before 24 months elapsed, Sepopa had an accident when an aircraft she operated on the 28th of March 2013 ran off the runway and incurred a dent.
It is said following the incident, she was dismissed from work because it was not the first time she had an accident.
When Sandenbergh was scheduled to appear before court last week, his lawyer Charles Tlagae pleaded with court to give him more time because his client was out of the country.
“One of my clients on this matter is still outside the country and I plea with the court to postpone the case to a suitable date,” said Tlagae.
The court postponed the case to the 17th of October.
Mediation at the Labour Office failed and the case was referred to the magistrate’s court.
