The President of South Africa, His Excellency Jacob G. Zuma received an Honorary Doctorate for Humanity from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology on the 27TH of August 2013 in Limkokwing Malaysia.
Earlier on this day, His Excellency received an award of Lifetime campaigner for Global Peace recognition on behalf of H.E. Dr. Nelson Mandela whose exemplary efforts of relentlessly striving for peace have substantially improved the lives of many.
The award of Lifetime Campaigner for Global Peace was presented by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak.
H.E. Jacob Zuma was accompanied by International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane, Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies, Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Science and Technology Minister Derek Hanekom, and Energy Minister Ben Martins.
Zuma is the seventh leader from the African continent to receive an Honorary Doctorate from the University. In 2008 H.E. Dr. Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa accepted an Honorary Doctorate for Humanity, the same year as the former President of Botswana H.E. Dr. Festus Mogae who also received an Honorary Doctorate for Humanity.
Three years later in 2011, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Pakalitha Mosisili, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho received the Honorary Doctorate of Leadership, subsequently followed by Botswana’s Minister of Education and Skills Development the Hon. Dr. Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi who received the Doctorate for Leadership in Human Capital Development in July 2012 then the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Rt. Hon. Motsoahae Thomas Thabane was honored with a Doctorate of Leadership in October, afterwards, Rt. Hon Dr. Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of Kenya awarded with the Honorary Doctorate of leadership in Societal Development November the same year. Recently an Honorary Doctorate for Human Capital Development was conferred upon King of Swaziland, King Mswati III.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dr Dato’ Sri MohdNajibTun Haji Abdul Razak is among other recipients of the University’s Honorary Doctorates that include YABhgTunDr Mahathir bin Mohamad, YABhgTun Dr Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus.
